Park University will be closed on Monday recognizing Veterans Day and will continue the celebration of those who have served with activities throughout the week.
English Landing Park plays host to the first of the week’s activities, as the Department of Military and Veteran Student Services sponsors the Wounded Warrior Patriot 5K/10K Run at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The registration fee of $15 includes a t-shirt, with trophies awarded to the top three finishers in both the 5K and 10K race. Runners interested in the race can download the registration form and bring it to the Park Warrior Center or to English Landing Park.
On Wednesday, Park will honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice of service, with a reading of names outside of Thompson Commons. From 9 a.m. to noon, volunteers will share the names of those killed in action during Operation Enduring Freedom.
A Veterans Resource Fair concludes the week’s activities on Thursday. Area organizations that assist veterans, including Catholic Charities and Angel Paws, as well as a vocational rehabilitation counselor to assist military and veteran students.
